Well its been a good couple of weeks now since the reunion but now
I can finally tell all you lot out there how our evening went.
I got to the pub early to "sus" it out as I hadn't been there
at all before since organizing this reunion over the past few months,
I guess I must have got there a little earlier than I should have
as I was already two drinks down before any one showed (a bit latter
than I had expected). At first I thought it would be a non-event but
the first to arrive was JACKIE NOAKE (who I'll admit I didn't recognize
at first, well it has been a long time!) I was quite amazed to hear
that she had two children one who was a teenager!? Had it really been
that long?
After about 10 minutes the other guests started to arrive LISA GOSSAGE,
HELEN NICHOLS & JUDITH CARTER but the local footie team at the bar
had other ideas on that and proceeded to chat them up, as we waved
at them from the other side of the room. They finally got away after
a couple of minutes just as the rest of our party arrived, STEVEN
YATES & SARAH [HUGHES], SARAH [BARTON], LESLEY CLAYTON (another I
didn't
recognize jet black shoulder length hair confused me) followed a couple
of minutes latter by MARTYN {CHALKIE} WHYTE & Wife, ANDREW {PLEB} DEAKIN
& Wife and CLARE STANTON and her partner.
Andy was totally different to how I remembered him a little on the
large side! now he's about 6'6" and quite trim looking which I cant
say for Chalkie who's job as a driving instructor has probably provided
to many of the good things in life if you know what I mean? only joking
Martyn. As the evening went on we all got into the swing of things,
the years hadn't dulled anyone's sense of humour if any thing it was
stronger than before as we remembered old nick names and incidents
from our school years and beyond.
Several old friends then arrived who i hadn't invited directly myself
first of all ROBERT JONES looking like he'd been pumping some serious
iron (that guy is BIG) and the guy who I never guessed I'd see again
except on Crime watch or something,(joke)STUART HALL who was a very
changed man the years had mellowed him and he even sounded quite respectable?!!
is this the old Stu Hall we all knew? bit of a change of character
like OZ on "auvederzine pet". We all had a great laugh and
whished we had met up a few years earlier, remembering friends who
couldn't come like DEAN CHAMBERLINE in the U.S.A, WAYNE FORSTER who
had just started up his own business and GARY HOLMES on a work trip
to Germany {a lot of high flyers} DEBRA FREEMAN in hospital [okay now]
and NICOLA VALENTINE who couldn't get the evening off and congratulations
to DAVE COOPER who was going to be a DAD on the night.
All in all it was a great night and everyone was grateful to me for
organizing it {I was a little worse for wear by the end of the night}
so roll on next time probably CHRISTMAS time or next year so get in
contact those of you who I don't have contact with and check out the
photos of the evening to see what you missed.
There
is now a Guest Book so if anyone would
like to leave messages or comments please do.
