There was a very relaxed atmosphere to the whole gathering, it could
have been the beer, but it wasn't. Everyone got on very well, despite
some initial apprehension and I quote "We were going to hide up
a corner and if they were a bunch of boring gits we would have slipped
out the back way". I am glad to say that nobody slipped off and
many ex-Sharmanians were discussed both pupils and teachers. We were
all agreed on one thing though nobody felt 20 years older.
It was great to see that everyone mingled regardles of which "stream"
they were in at school. I found myself chatting to people I never spoke
to at school and really liking them (scary thought...huh!). It just
goes to show how much people develop and change after leaving school.
I even learnt a thing or two during the evening, for instance did you
know they make Y shaped coffins. No, neither did I, but apparently its
a girly thing?
It was unanimous that there should be a further "gathering".
The plan is to arrange a meal and pub on a Friday or Saturday Night
in Birmingham. Those who were not drinking have promised to "have
a couple" and let their hair down, which is a scary prospect in
Edwards case!
There is
now a Guest Book so if anyone would like
to leave messages or comments please do.
